When I’m 18 If I was to contact the recruiter or whoever organizes this stuff and promise I will join the army to become an officer as soon as I finish university, will my education be paid for?

No – it won’t be paid for if you join after. You’d have to join first and have them put you through it.

No. If you meet ALL THE REQUIREMENTS for a commission, why not apply to one of the military academies instead?

They will not finance your education until you are IN.

You may have to and may not have to. Governments have different agenda when they are elected to ruler their Country and brings in different policy for university entry. Also your parents income is another factor that affect whether you are a paying student or not. But don’t worry about this now, try and make this grades to guarantee you a university place and then you will find a way to complete your studies. Good luck.

That’s called ROTC and there are scholarships for it. Just look up the ROTC branch you want to go through at the school you want to go to and talk to them about it, not the recruiter. Keep in mind that you will sign a contract though and it’s an eight year obligation.

You need to talk to a recruiter in Australia. There are programs for university students in Australia who agree to join the military. They do help with tuition fees. But I don’t know the details. Have you looked at their website??

Most of the above answers refer to the US. In Australia the government only pays the university degrees for students of Duntroon (the degree comes from UNSW). You have to apply and to get in is not only on academics but on physical training, psychological testing and interview. The degrees are limited – Engineering, Arts (Languages and Communication) and Science (Physics and Computer Science). Depending on the offer you get you may or may not have the university fees paid for BUT you do get paid significantly more during the course of study (compared to Austudy). You also have to be signed into the Army, Airforce, Navy for a number of years post graduation.

Once you have your degree you can apply to the forces but they will not pay you back any of the money. The reserves wont make any difference,.
