in Higher Education (University +)

Chucky D :

my sister paid for a spanish class, and she still can’t speak spanish. what a fucking rip-off! and why go to university if you’re not smart enough to get a full scholarship? if you’re not smart enough for that, you’re probably not smart enough for university. do people think they can buy brains?

ROI. People pay for college because you can expect a good return on investment. College is a business, probably worse than the mob, however college graduates earn $1,000,000 more over a lifetime on average compared to high school grads.

Maybe your sister needs to take more Spanish classes. You can’t just pick up a foreign language from one class.

There are ways to be educated without paying, like reading all the time. But a university provides structure, focus, curriculum, interaction with professors and cohorts, and other resources, all of which contribute to the learning process.

Someone that has ambition to pursue an education, even without a scholarship, already shows that they are smart enough to know that you can’t go very far if you don’t learn and know things. People who blow off learning in favor of loafing around are the ones who will find themselves on a path to nowhere.

something awesome

You seem very interested in the phrase, “not smart enough”.
