I received 1099-T from university with a 0 in box 5 (employee assisted education reimbursement). As far as 1099-T is concerned, it is correct since my employer did not pay the university, I did. However, my employer reimbursed my expenses via Payroll cycles. But then W-2 does not reflect that reimbursement. Does this qualify me for education credit? If not, how can I substantiate on my tax returns that I was in fact reimbursed? Any assistance I can get is much appreciated. Thanks,
PV

I broke my front tooth in half years ago, and they put on a plastic type cap thingy, saying that i was too young for a permanent fix. The plastic thing broke off today and I was wondering if I can claim the cost of fixing it back in any way, seeing as I am a full time student.

I want this question to ponder in everyone’s mind, what is better getting a degee from a Comm College or a university ?
Which on looks more impressive a education from Community, or one from a University, why ?
Many people like to say that the reason that they fail to go to a college is MONEY. But doesnt everybody know that the best investment is you education?
My personal opinion is that , when you are paying 11,000 or plus a year for a education, what comes with that is time to grow up with out living at home, responsiblity, education, 24 hour food, and help services, and never having to worry about bills, the only thing that you will have to ask the goverment for is to finance your education, and getting a job in something that you love and not having to pay the gov. back until you graduate.
Where at a community you are paying less but yet spending more, because your still living at home, still working, &still have the bubble of protection around you from your parents.

like, what type of things is it giving money to instead of University’s that are causing all these furlough days (days that school is out of session because there’s not enough money).
for example are they paying for lights to make the city look nice for christmas, are they paying for things that don’t need to be paid for in times that we are so broke we can’t even spend money on education?
and how would i find out what they are paying for?

In high school and university, there isn’t enough time for students to gain a lot of practical knowledge. So, when they start working, they still need to gain practical experience before they are very useful to the employer. Who do you think should pay for this practical education – the employer or the employee?

Regardless of what country I’m from, I’m paying between $5-7K each year for my university education. When considering these stats, why aren’t more Americans packing their bags and heading for a country where the education is not only better, but also CHEAPER? I hear that at some American schools, students are paying almost $15k a SEMESTER?!?! Are they NUTS? It just does not make any sense to me. Explain, please. I’m not being anti-American. Just…wow.

..the poor people will have a problem to get a goof education, and therefore will have problem to straighen out their life. Poor stays poor and rich stays rich?
Where I come from I get money for studying at university.
So this scholarships are avaliable for everyone? I do not think so. One lost person is to much. In my home country I can study to doctor, teacher or whatever absolutely for free. Without applying for special programs or scholarships. I don’t want this to be a competition between contries, it just makes me sad when I think about the situation so many people in USA must be in. Not beeing able to eat so save money for collage. What about all the single moms out there? It’s just very sad. Knowledge is power.
Bob W–> Wow, I didn’t see that coming.First of all, If you want to know, I have been working and paying my taxes like a good girl for years, and now I take a break for studying. I do not feel bad for taking the money I will get for this – because I have with my taxes paid for other people.
Second of all, I don’t live in a communist country, and you can study whatever you want. No one choose this for you. It looks like you have no idea what you are talking about. Goodbye now.
Lynn A–> Excuse me for not having perfect english, after all this is not my native languages. Are you willing to have this discussion in some of the other languages I speak? Swedish, spanish and greek? Or maybe you only speak english.
I am so tired of trying to have conversations with americans that only attack my english spelling and grammar. It’s quite rude and frankly very ignorant.
